Yesterday C and I experienced our very first Jimmy Buffett concert at Alpine Valley.
Our friends, The Fenlons, worked hard to pull everything together: bus rental, tickets to the concert, and all of the food and drink we could handle. It was a great time! C and I drove up to Milwaukee to meet the rest of the group and we started on our way.
There were 23 people on the bus so we had plenty of space to spread out and get the bar open. The worst part of the day was the wait in line to get into the parking lot. It was about 90° out and in a bus with no air conditioning that isn't moving, that gets to be more like 100°. Many people were getting out and walking next to the bus outside to get some air (they were walking faster than the bus was moving!).
Once we got to the parking area, we all unloaded the bus and set up the tent and tables and got the food and drinks going. We had about 3 hours of party before the gates for the concert open. The concert itself was one of the most insane things I've ever been to.
Of course we got separated from the rest of our group, but C and I managed to stay together which is most important!
We found a good spot at the top of the hills and stood and watched the masses singing and dancing, drinking and stumbling and falling.
While we weren't able to see the stage, we could see parts of the video screens and could hear the music just fine. It was definitely an adventure and something we're glad to have experienced. The time spent with friends was great and worth the money.
